    fun falacy: “Marines have never lost a gate. that’s why they guard them”. in 1976, the USMC gate guards at NAS Guam were duct-taped, and the main gate disassembled and “liberated” by a happy crew of CBs. as far as i know, it was never found. the skipper was not amused.

    but if he should throw the spear and miss, he’s stuck up in a tower and can’t do anything to stop the passerby from passing by. which is why the gate guard is always the one to ask for identification. tower guards are misnamed lookouts (because all they can do is look out).

    The moon’s position in relation to the tower is determined by the position of the peasant observing it. .However, in the world of Toon, in the Kingdom of Id, all laws of nature have been voided and the moon is free to bounce where ever he jolly well pleases.
