Margaret Hamilton nearly died from the coppery glop they covered her skin with to make it green,

Californicators are right at home in the opium poppy field.

To be fair I once held a bag of beach sand with the same warning from california. That place must be pretty bad for everything to be toxic there.

    1) The carcinogenicity of cadmium has not been established, and 2) California has the best record on environmental issues of any state in the Union. The tough environmental laws here make it one of the healthiest places to live in the USA. Oh, and it was Buddy Ebsen (early pick for the Tin Man) who had a problem with the makeup. He had a severe allergic reaction to the aluminum dust in the makeup they used, from breathing it in when it was being applied, and was hospitalized. He was replaced by Jack Haley. On the other hand, both Margaret Hamilton and one of her stand-ins were burned by the pyrotechnics used in some of the Wicked Witch’s scenes.

I appreciate California and New York.Without them, some nutty people would be looking for some other place to stay and Florida already has our share.

California is made up of many disparate areas and climates. The political climates are made up of the large, urban highly “progressive” liberal areas and the small urban and rural areas are made up of the conservatives. Free thinkers and other classical liberals (think libertarian) are dusted all over everywhere.

I just want to “explain” the joke to you guys.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_65_%281986%29see, in 1986, California passed this inane and poorly thought out initiative.not to get into all the nitty gritty details (read the link), the end result is that a sign like this warning of “hazardous” chemicals “known to the State of California” is plastered on literally everything.sometimes, you have to wonder if those “hazardous” chemicals are things like “dihydrogen oxide” (look it up, or see here: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/ban-dihydrogen-oxide.html)essentially, it takes the “boy cries wolf” to new extremes. I wonder if you could actually get away with selling people rat poisoned Twinkies, so long as you plastered all the packaging with Prop 65 warnings.

One of California’s MANY problems is that we are under capitalized and over socialized.

The funny thing about those warnings is that, apparently, the substance will only harm you in California – the harmfulness isn’t ‘known to’ anyone else?
