Imagine a haunted car. More prevalent in that time than today. We have the great grandfather of Dr. Egon Spengler to thank for that. During WW2 the Bavarian engineer and self taught physicist Spengler discovered the “ghost wave form” and created a simple “fuse” to counter it. Why the only haunted cars seem to be behind the once Iron Curtain and in movies like “Love Bug”.

For a while, people with those alarms were finding their cars dented on purpose.
“I can’t get out of my car next to yours? Okay.” <slams door open into theirs, then moves to a different spot>
Well aimed shopping carts were another favorite.
That’s why those alarms aren’t around as much these days.

I saw a story about a car that went off at all times of the night like that. Eventually, there was a note on it:
ATTENTION BURGLARS! Please break into this car and disable the alarm. As a reward, you can keep the stereo system.
