There’s a very droll British comedy routine, supposedly voiced by one Cynthia Bracegirdle, who is initially effusively grateful for the partridge and the cute little tree as gifts from her boyfriend, and the doves cooing and so on, but she loses patience and the lords a-leaping (30 of them by the end) make quite a clatter.

Dang, love that Maria—such a handful (or even two)!
