It all makes sense, now! Autotune, “inhuman” dance steps, processed, inorganic, synthesized lyrics and music, and subject matter……. – It’s what Kraftwerk (The Robots, Man Machine, Electric Cafe) and Gary Numan (You name it) could tell was coming, a mile away….
But everybody mentioned in today’s strip had worked at something to develop their talent (even Milli Vanilli at first, though in the end it was more so probably ‘keeping a secret’) and get where they are!– There’s usually something in their most recent work with sampling, synths, etc.(where the direction of music seems to be headed). Today’s music seems to have a lot of synthesis” in it, more than before, whether through music arrangement, lyric or music sampling, from other artists, or a bit of autotune- each of these ways seem to be the point of today’s strip…– Incidentally, autotune is usually thought of as “something to make people with no singing voice sound like they can sing” , but is more so used to help blend a voice more closely with a track. A good example is when a singer can sing many notes above an arrangement, but has to be “autotuned” in order to keep it blended well with the key of the instruments, or the pacing of them in the music track. The reason people rail against it so much, today, is because many artists use the “fx” part of autotune much like “T Pain” does, with that “robotic” sound, where there’s a lot of “sing-talking” in it…… so whether through effects, or actual studio production techniques, don’t think that J.T. never has to deal with autotune! And as a producer, I’m sure that he’s had to use some of it for others…
I am continually surprised to hear many of the non-glassical performers say they had classical training at first. I guess they know of Bach and may have even included some Bachness in what they do with notes and a staff, and often, vocal chords.
Who cares who does it as long as you can twerk to it!!!“What does a Fox Say”“The Chicken Song”“Macarena” “Achy Breaky Heart”(Just passing through folks……just a ramblin on….and on….and on…….)

Milli Vanilli must have been for an early pair of models, somehow synchronizing their skipping record.

They’re pretty close to the truth. Really popular pop artists are usually industry slaves
