People have had accidents from trying to read signs.

Those animated, electronic billboards are extremely distracting.

But the important signs (STOP, Speed Limit, etc.) are small and hidden by trees, parked cars, etc.

Saw a distracting sign this morning – it said Do Not Post Signs Here.
