….and to go really retro, he can belong to a party line.you answer the phone only if it’s your ring. they are one long ring, 2 short rings, one long and one short, and vice versa.If you pick the phone up to dial, and you hear someone talking, you have to wait until they’re done…..but if you’re real quiet , you can intercept the conversation.
An ‘analog’ phone definitely comes in handy when the power goes out, though I’m sticking with the touch-tone variety. I would only resort to a rotary dial if there were no other option.
