The irony is that I picked up an issue of Hustler, right about the same time Steve Dallas did (spring of 79) just to see what the fuss was about. Upon seeing a cartoon about the hilarity of microwaving babies and a pictorial about the benefits of used tampons as bait for vampire traps (I am not making this up) on the first few pages, into the trash it went.
The first time I saw Jimmy Swaggert cry on TV. Hustler magazine had the courage to bust him about his trysts with a prostitute. She didn’t have much good to say about Swaggert. Swaggert tried to get her to get her 10yo daughter for him. Anyway she co-operated with Hustler. She was pretty ugly. I guess ol’ Jimmy liked ‘em trashy.Swaggert had just ruined another preacher’s TV money machine. I don’t remember his name. It seems as if no major news organization would touch it, so ruined preacher contacted Hustler.For months we had Swaggert confessing and crying on TV asking god and his money base for forgiveness. His donations dropped considerably, but crying worked I suppose, as he recovered. I don’t think he lost any yachts or Mercedes’. Remember, you saw it in Hustler first. (A little humor there.)
