Old story, from about 1983: Outside a barrack in Germany, one soldier saw another walk through the compound with a boom box the size of a Buick on his shoulder. The first soldier muttered, “Huh, crew-served radio.”

I remember Anthony Geary from general hospital wearing a Members Only jacket in an ad. I never understood how women found him attractive. He had that strange hai and kind of a weasel face.

I think it’s a bad pun on “Cruiser Radio.”…Incidentally, months ago I bought a boombox to play audiotapes so I could transcribe a client’s interviews. Best Buy had none, and Radio Shack had exactly one. Yesterday the client finally came by to take the tapes and boombox, which she paid for.

Boom boxes were all the rage way back in 1983, but died out not long after. The Walkman came along and made portable audio much more… well, portable. By 1993, no one would be caught dead with a boom box.
