Buy a book; get a donut. Given that I only went to Sunday mass for the after-mass donuts as a kid, I can see that working.

Now for the book store……..Laura’s on the right track. Maybe they could make a presence at the local Farmer’s Market, and invite the folks into the store that way. Get a coupon……..every 12 books gets you a free one. Or……..give out a short summary of a book and guess the author…..the prize for that could be a donut.

Don’t knock it, Laura. The bookstore could always team up with a local bakery and the two could promote each other.

Hey, there’s a flower shop down the street that now offers free coffee. Seems to be working, as I see more traffic there than before.

Sure… sticky-fingered donut eaters turning the pages of the books. Finger-food and books do not mix. My favorite place had coffee and outstanding cake served at a cafe table with a fork where one could indulge AFTER paying for the book.

Yep—having a plethora of dedicated book lovers would help.
