Dogs and kids are not a good combination unless the kids are too little to hurt the dog and/or the kids learn how to play nice; and in any case the dog also knows how to play nice, including being tolerant of minor injustices, which might mean walking away in some cases. In no case should a dog be left unsupervised with a child until you’re sure the situation is a good one.

My dog loves the little girls next door. Any time she darts outside, we know she’s headed right to their front door!
