It is true that there is always someone worse off than we are, but that knowledge should be used to keep one’s perspective when life is being difficult. Reveling in that other person’s misery is just plain tacky, to put it very mildly.
I think I like this better than when someone shames you for being unhappy by pointing out there are people with worse problems than yours.
