this is every day at work. I swear people see someone else going to pay and they rush into line because they are afraid they won’t be allowed to make their purchase if too many people buy things before they do.

I feel your pain. I do not however undersdtand the thinking behind so many stores (pre-pandemic) Having 10 to 20 registers and never ever, having more than half of them open.

When I worked with the public I was always quite positive everyone hid and the corner so they could come in large groups.

Yes yes, this is soooooo true! I did retail. This NEVER failed to happen. I remember working as a checker in a grocery one day….the store was completely empty for hours. The line manager sent some people home early cause it was dead. Guess what? Just as soon as those people left, there were a TON of customers. Sigh….

Another good one…could be dead for a long time. I decide to just straighten and stock some in the aisle right by the register. Maybe maybe 2 minutes go by and I check my register. Someone is standing there angry and they always say “I’ve been standing here 10 minutes!!!” . Bullhocky! Whatever….don’t miss that stuff at all.
