Grandma’s little joke, a way of saying “Don’t be silly, Agnes” without actually calling her silly.
It’s probably also a bit of a protective device, to throw Agnes off the track, and keep from asking too many questions about her own parents….
One of whom was Grandma’s child….a son or daughter she probably loved dearly, in spite of some hopeless flaws that were beyond a child’s understanding, or her capacity for forgiveness.
Grandma would prefer to keep that discussion at bay for another year or three…. or 27.
And Night-G …. interesting thought, but I don’t see her as that far from reality.
Just an imaginative child, with…. in spite of what some think…. a playful grandmother with a sarcastic sense of humor.
It’s just a tall tale….
