And we hope the ribbon makes good shoe laces.

Awwwwww! For some of my kids’ special gifts I might wrap a box, put it another wrapped box, and put that box inside one more box. It’s all about presentation and the element of surprise.

Looks like the wrappings could have cost more than the shoelaces (assuming she couldn’t and didn’t buy those $25 ones…)

But hopefully, she used layers of newspaper, maybe an old blanket, and other items already lying around the house for the padding….

    (NOT the comics, of course!)

And those miles of ribbon! But hey, when I was a kid I made “ribbon” out of strips of discarded sheets and clothing….unfortunately we only had white sheets.

Maybe Agnes found a red plastic tablecloth to cut up?

When we got my grandson his first cell phone, my daughter and I put the phone in a gift bag from a lingerie shop, then into a small box stuffed with newspaper. That went into another box stuffed with newspaper, which went into one of those huge santa bags stuffed with newspaper. We then wrapped the bag in duct tape. Priceless!!

You can find all sorts of stuff by diving the right dumpsters. Merry Christmas to all!

The first Christmas with my young nephews I learned that it is all about tearing into the gift wrap; forget the present. The following year I bought a whole bunch of stuff at the Dollar Store and wrapped it up. It translated into about 5 minutes of total gift wrap carnage.
