“Seasons in the Sun” was a worldwide hit song for Terry Jacks in 1974. It was first released in the United States and then Canada. I just got that on line after listening to the song again, for the first time in decades. What a downer! I don’t remember it being such a sad song.

Night … exactly what I was thinking…. except we already know Trout’s mother “dates” whoever takes her fancy….OR brings beer or cigarettes.

rshive…actually, “Seasons in the Sun” was a sentimentalised translation by Rod McKuen of a darkly funny and sarcastic 1950’s song by Jacques Brel, Le Moribund

There have been a zillion covers, most using the Mckuen version, but the Terry Jacks one became one of the biggest hit records ever…Personally, I find it cloyingly sweet and cringe-worthy…while at the same time, an incredibly persistent earworm.

    Thanks a lot, Tony!
