Thank the Unicorn for impenetrable mysteries the faithful cannot apprehend!

    “Candy on Gingerbread?”

    “Christmas.”

    “Candy on cookies and cake?”

    “Birthdays.”

    “Candy on other candy?”

    “When nobody’s looking…”

Trout, kids that question the whys of free candy, take part of the joy of having received it. (That doesn’t mean to take it from strangers.)

Right, “they” get the candy…well, maybe Trout does, but I seem to recall that Agnes’s grandma goes through her Halloween candy first, so who knows what’s really in her Easter basket

Sadly, most Holy Seasons in our culture have been reduced to candy types, gift types or trite messages. The actual messages of Christ being born, His living and dying for our sins and His overcoming death by His Resurrection have become lost, as have we…..

When I lived in Germany there was a holiday where we put our shoes outside the door & in the morning they had candy in them. I was 4-7 years old when we were stationed there. It was at the beginning of December and chimney sweeps were the ones who supposedly filled them. Any reason to have candy is a good reason. :)
