Same here. I grew up on a farm in the pre-cable days and we got ABC, CBS, and PBS. My folks would never miss Lawrence Welk. I think it scared me for life.

This is where downloading all that stuff comes in handy. Especially all the one season shows that came on in the 50’s through 90’s. I’ve downloaded about 4 terabytes. Probably never get to watch all of them, but at least I have them.

We got two channels out of the three available.

The parents watched Lawrence Welk and Liberace, I never could figure that out.

I remember watching the Farm Report at 5 AM Saturday mornings because nothing else was on.

Those were some glory years for NBC…

How’s it going Mr. Peterson? It’s a dog eat dog world, Woody, and I’m wearing milk bone underwear. — No farm for me but we had a black and white tv that got about 6 channels and I was the remote channel changer. For the longest time I didn’t know Gunsmoke came in color.

Oh my dad loved Lawrence Welk… it made me crazy.

We had 3 channels and a fourth one that was sort of local, but always fuzzy – it carried “Sammy Terry” horror and SF movies….

When they did the national anthem they tried to make it varied and sometimes “jazzy”. I once saw a Mexican version of the national anthem sign off on an American channel for some reason and it was very formal. They played the Mexican national anthem and a soldier lowered the flag and formally folded it.
