An inevitable part of being married to a wildlife veterinarian is going out at all hours day or night to help injured animals. On television these wildlife rescues usually have happy endings. In real life they seldom have happy endings and I’ve found myself holding animals through the last minutes of their lives until I’m worn out with it. I don’t know if those last few moments of companionship and comfort are important to a wild animal, but I have to believe that it must be.

And even now, 4 years later, she is still with your memories and we still get to see her.

Very few comic strips have the emotional range to handle these issues well. This is impressive.

One of the saddest things most of us have had to deal with. But they leave us with such wonderful memories.

Went through this a few months ago. If I were an actor it would be my cry on command memory.

We’re going through this with our 16 year old dog. Up one day and down the next.

Excellent arc, Amanda, and a story that I’m sure is tough to retell – beautiful work.
