Way past time for a scratching post, but try one anyway.

My cats have reduced my canvas office chair down to the wood frame…and the large scratching post remains untouched!

LIfe with a cat! Not that it helps, but he wants to be in the room with you ~ not outside the door. A cat wants what a cat wants! Either succumb or suffer the consequences.

My cats have something they are allowed to scratch on in every room except bathroom and kitchen. I have had those cheap little cardboard scratching pads for decades, as well as a floor-to-ceiling cat tree and scratching post with bed on top. Tiny scratching posts are for wee kittens. A cat must be able to stretch high while scratching; that’s how they mark their territory and indicate how big they are.

There might have to be a name change from Ric to Destructo.

One of ours just kept acting up- scratching, even with numerous post around, spraying the walls, so we tried those Feliway diffusers you plug into the wall. She’s so much more mellow now. No more misbehaving.

Ric needs some catnip mice to play with. That way, he won’t destroy everything else.
