The way priest dress now sure are different from when I was a boy. When they stepped out they always wore a cassock. We would go up and ask them for a blessing. Our late parish priest preferred an old sweatsuit.
I have siblings much younger than me (I was in high school when they were born) and we invited to priest to the party after their christenings. EVERYONE was in shock when Fr. Trainor showed up in khakis and a plaid shirt. He said “what? You’ve never seen an off-duty Catholic priest before?” No!
Then there was the time during CCD when the same question came up, and Fr. Dunphy opened his black shirt like Superman to show us the Boston Red Sox t-shirt underneath!
