I am currently making my way through Mahler’s symphonies, as well as the deluxe box set, with all the extras, of “The Beatles” (the white album). AND——I finished the two-CD set of Brenda Lee’s earliest singles! Too, we are in season three of “I Dream of Jeannie.” Barbara Eden’s acting skills are so complete, she never for a moment betrays that she is acting, wondrously powerful: such a very, very rare skill. With most actors you can see them working at it, even if it’s only a little. Not with her; she is totally, completely the character. She’s like Ginger Rogers that way.
I just made a huge list on yesterday’s Jumpstart of TV shows with intelligent writing, in response to people who got rid of their tv in the Oughts. We also have so much to watch, but I understand the fear. We were astounded at how brilliant Warehouse 13 was when we discovered it a few years ago, and wondered/worried if there were more clever SF shows out there we had missed. Well, this Oscar season and its 38 movies got delayed for us because we instead could not stop watching all five seasons of The Magicians. (We did manage to see all but 3 or 4 movies and the 5 docs, too).
