What’s so good about a floating couch, Andy? Also, that’s not a second bit of good news.

This situation was completely avoidable, if only Flo had done her part…

Andy with a cellphone? That jars my sensibilities a little bit. I don’t have a problem with the guys updating the strip, but if they show Andy on a computer, I’m going to need counseling. And alcohol.

It is now cinfirmed that Andy is the Captain of his own couch, the “RMS Capp”.

(Yes I know that RMS stands for Royal Mail Ship or Steamer)

I agree with Sandfan that Andy with a cell phone seems wrong on SO many levels! I know that the strip needs to keep somewhat up to date—even though according to Flo in one of my old strips I read recently, they met in 1939 before the war broke out so it “should” be about 1964 if they’ve been married for 25 years—but a cell phone just doesn’t work. (Besides, how could they possibly afford one????)

Since there’ve been a couple of cat poems today, let me toss in one of my own silly little things:

Cats Know Which Side Their Mice are Buttered

Truer words were never utteredCats know which side their mice are butteredThey use us humans in their plans(We’re here to open up their cans)In other ways they tend to doubt usKnowing they can do without us

Dogs are opposite: it’s trueYou MIGHT find some that bark at youDogs who bite and yap and growlAnd act in other ways most foulDogs with issues, quirks, and bentsWho shred your limbs and ligaments

A Hamlet dog will bite and scratchGreat Dane as big as bandersnatchA Iago dog can be a smilerTurn from poodle to rottweilerAnd body parts they often severThe dreaded Labrador “retrever”

But if a dog is friendly firstHe’s friendly last, e’en at your worstIf you are late with bits and kibblesHe’ll eat the neighbor’s cats (or tribbles!)And then off to his well-earned restPeople with dogs are truly blessed

I wonder. The first three lines actually scan, andthe last isn’t as wayward nor as far out of kilter as his wayward, out of kilter lines usually are.

    Hi, Number Three.

I did sleep good and am a bit running behind despite getting a 5 a.m. start.

Playing the song as I write. I have it over at Grooveshark. Much as I like Frank S.,

I’m a huge Frank Zappa fan, myself.

    Hope your day went well._______________________________________________

Hi Gweedo. Sorry to hear you have to get up at 5am.

That can’t be much fun for you. You have my sympathy.

I remember you listing your favourite singers/bands. Frank Zappa was the first one in your list.

My day went fine. It’s been thunder and lightening here.

    That sounds really nice.

Hope you have a good time in Buffalo. We’ll miss you but you enjoy yourself!

It was my first time listening to Ink Spot yesterday and I enjoyed both the songs. Which one did you listen to?

Glad the painting is almost done. It’ll be all worth it in the end… Like the roof.

    Take care.

    Til’ tomorrow…

“I will drive as long as I can afford to, and do it safely "

Unfortunately, here in Florida, too many can’t but still do. I’m in my late 60’s but I’ve got an uncle in the next town over whose 96+ and is ( god help us all ) still driving . He can hardly walk but gets behind the wheel. Says he hasn’t had an accident and drives cautiously ( read slow ) but I wonder how many accidents he’s caused.Fortunately, he doesn’t get up on the Highway anymore – just the back roads, along with the other 6,000 plus, neighbors of the same, or close proximity, in age and infirmities. And that’s not counting Snow Bird Season !
