Wrong choice of words if you ask me, vicar (by which I mean “spirit”). Coming from another alcohol-prohibbiting faith, keep trying.

Yikes wrong Andy . . . completely. Real Andy always had a wise retort at-ready, not an admission of ignorance.

Not really a blow-off here but much more like real/actual historical Andy:640 pixels . . . because It is.

But you, yourself, are guilty of the same thing. I suppose you realise that you are a source of amusement to us?

As Chalkie said, Andy usually gets the better of the Vicar…

So many of the “jokes” in modern Andy episodes rely on Andy (or Chalkie) being ignorant or making malaprops that were old the first time vaudeville swiped them from Ancient Greece. It’s true that we’re not exactly talking the faculty of Harvard here, yet those cheap jokes (I won’t say “laughs” since they don’t provide any) ignore the character of Andy. Today, Andy would have made a cutting remark to the busy-body Vicar, and cut him RIGHT down to size, if Reg Smythe were around to protect his creation!

The Moderators know of this “Capper” phenomena, and ‘They’ approve. So anyone thinking of flagging as a solution might get first-hand knowledge of aal the Mod cons.

When I was little (5 years old), my father let me have a sip of his beer. (His brand of choice was Schlitz.) It tasted AWFUL! I thank God frequently that I never developed a taste for that poisonous potable. I can’t understand how people can enjoy drinking something that tastes that bad._________________________________________________

I’ve been there. After a few drinks of the beer I started to feel tipsy because it must have been too strong for me (5%)I’m never drinking that stuff again. It’s disgusting, bitter and unhealthy.I prefer fizzy drinks like Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max.

“Andy used to be an instigator and irascible” and i should mention irreverent and indefatigable and i’m interested in how Other view Andy being ’shortchanged [if you agree that-is]. Or otherwise.

Leftovers from Yesterday:VVFANOLIO said, about 20 hours ago I’m from Texas and Mikey is from Canada, but it’s not his fault.^^True, I guess I was just incredibly lucky to be born here instead

VVBeviek said about XX hours ago:Hmmmm, I just checked the Erie Canal and didn’t find an Andy Capp in there! lol^^Naw, the people in Buffalo prefer to fall in the Niagara Riv er, instead. VVJPuzzleWhiz said, about 20 hours ago When I was little (5 years old), my father let me have a sip of his beer. (His brand of choice was Schlitz.) It tasted AWFUL! I thank God frequently that I never developed a taste for that poisonous potable. I can’t understand how people can enjoy drinking something that tastes that bad.^^I have a nearly identical story, when I was 4 yrs old, my Uncle forced me to take a puff on his pipe and a swig from his beer…. that day I vowed to never drink or smoke, and I never have!VVNumber Six said, about 20 hours ago Mahoney, Goldsmith and Garnett seem to take delight in breaking all the rules of comedy and humour. By illustrating Andy’s thumbs up, even a five year old can anticipate the final panel.^^Yup, Chalkie and you proved that it had the potential as a 2 panel, to be hilarious

@Number SixI’m happy to see your “Muggins” returning, and your “Mad Capps.” (I’m not a huge fan of Elvis, myself, although since my uncle lives in Memphis I’ve actually been to Graceland. It happened to be one of the anniversaries of his death when I was there, and there were wreaths all over the place in tribute to him.)@MikeyjYou excellently captured the REAL Andy’s personality with your re-do! I just wish the current team on Andy could do half so well. I agree with Chalkie j that Andy has really been reduced to being just an observer instead of an active character far too often. And I think a lot of times the current team is trying to shoe-horn old Zero jokes from “Beetle Bailey” in here, especially their weak “trivia night” strips, none of which were ever funny. (But I live in hope……….)

I have an addictive personality. That is why I choose to be clean and sober.Caffeine, mostly in the form of coffee, and fizzy drinks, mostly for the fizzy, are my “drugs” of choice.I feel better for it.And, I am not preaching. Many people, including many of my friends, imbibe with out it running there life.It just was not so for me.
