Some of my most dangerous pub crawls occurred when I was an 18 year old Marine, stationed in Southern California. The legal drinking age then (1946) was 21, so I and some of my buddies would head for Tijuana (Mexico) to do our bar crawling. Many times the night would end with a fight, usually between Marines and Sailors. I somehow managed not to get involved in any serious fighting. Now when anybody asks if I saw any action during the war, I reply that the only combat I saw was in Tijuana.
