@Number Six In today’s strip , do they really need our Hero Mr Andrew Capp in the game ? the drunken sot will be useless even when sober :o) my avatar is a depiction of the the only position I can sleep , but in a full sized double bed , how was your day ? ours looks like it’s going to be both busy and confusing :o{ BCNU and the rest of the Capp gang .
Football (soccer) cartoon is timely. My 42-year-old stepson is currently at the hospital because he cracked a shin bone playing in a match last night. His mother (my bride) and his wife are with him and no doubt constantly berating him – saying he’s too old to be trying to compete with those young guys. Of course, he’s not going to pay attention to either one of them! (The kid that ran into him was 22)-
I refereed soccer for over 30 years. I can remember friends of mine when I was in my early 40’s trying to get me to play in senior leagues. I always refused.
I had quit playing the game when I started to referee in my late 20’s and never had a desire to play again.
I saw too many aging “athletes” – guys who exercised only when they played – hobbling around with aches and pains, pulled and strained muscles, and even broken bones following a friendly match.
There comes a time when you have to admit to yourself that you are too old to play a kid’s game.
Will I tell my stepsons that? Naw, they’d never listen. They’ll have to come to that painful conclusion on their own.
Hey, Affie. I saw your comment on Rose is Rose yesterday and I think some people who replied to you completely overreacted. Sadly, that seems to be the norm now.
For what it’s worth, I find domestic violence funny in cartoons ONLY. As Andy used to “bop” Flo in the classics, I would always laugh at it.
I didn’t find anything offensive in your comment at all but there will be some people who will milk it for all it’s worth.

Andy’s just resting up for the final half.

This reminds me of industrial league hockey in the late 70’s. 4am at DoubleRinks arena half in the bag playing no rules hockey.

You are coming through loud and clear by the way!
