the rent collector used to be a major character in the strip; his name was Percy Ritson and he and Andy were constantly fighting. He had a thing for Flo. I don’t know why they took him out. The Capps don’t seem to be as broke as they were before either, in the old strips they were constantly deep in debt and having their furniture repossessed.

Landlord: “Pay your rent or get out of my property.”
