There’s a long tradition of villainous secret societies in literature, but in reality? Other than organized crime and street gangs, not so much, and they aren’t set on world conquest.
But there is always going to be some paranoid who really believes groups like Blue Circle actually exist. My observation is such people tend to pile up at opposite ends of the political spectrum.
(Hey, Warty! Howya doin’? Naturally, to a leftist the fact that Warbucks is a businessman makes him an automatic criminal.)
Strange that WWH would call anyone a “pig”. But well-done regurgitation of the usual commie twaddle. I’m never sure how many layers of irony you intend when you do that.
If bringing capitalism to the Third World is imperialism, then the world needs more of it. (I was really quite surprised once to hear an Indian co-worker thanking the British for all the good things they brought to India. The opposite view is like the Monty Python scene in “Life of Brian”: “What have the Romans ever done for us?”)
Thanks for the comment, Channce, because it demonstrates that all principles rest on deeper principles all the way down to the most fundamental concepts of philosophy.
I can be certain of my political views because they rest on ethical views that rest on basic principles of the branch of philosophy called epistemology. My epistemology is based on reason as competent to grasp the facts of the world. Too bad our culture is in the stranglehold of other theories of knowledge, such as the Right believing that truth comes from faith, not reason, or the Left believing truth comes from concensus, not the individual mind grasping reality.
But it sounds like your view is based on Pragmatism, the dominant philosophy in our culture, so ingrained that it’s like the air we take for granted. It is a philosophy based on the idea that reality is not really knowable so certainty is impossible. Of this the true Pragmatist is belligerently certain and willing to sneer at anyone so foolish as to believe anyone can actually be certain of anything.
Does that shoe fit, Channce? If not, then tell us how you can know that my hard-earned certainty is false. Tell me what makes YOU so certain.

Yes Warbucks is a Yankee running dog capitalist pig, who seeks to spread American imperialist hegemony throughout the world.

Morning, Anniephans!
Yes. Annie had a run-in with the Blue Circle a few years back in that time-travel story when she and Amelia were stuck in the 1920s.
