From submarine to underground bunker
Could he have become a spelunker?
He was a man of great deeds and daring
Or is this just another red herring?
In New Mexico, the hills are turning purple
Have they found the lair of the Blue Circle?
So much happening in so little time
It’s hard to put it in a rhyme.
No, the submarine pilot was captured with Warbucks, and presumably sold to the highest bidder. The person that was with Asp and Punjab was the criminal that Warbucks had Santiago help break out of prison.
I think I’m with NotNorman on this one. If memory serves, they spent a bit of time with the pilot developing his character and loyalties. I thought at the time that he was going to be a crucial element to that story line rather than a “throwaway”. Fingers crossed for seeing Punjab and the Asp before Christmas.
Surely, this place in NM isn’t connected with the submarine and Asp & Punjab. That would be a coincidence outside the bounds of this comic strip, in my opinion.
But of course, you never really know.

Warbucks thought of the sub pilot when he was in that terrorist camp. But, in the escape, Warbucks didn’t have time to look for him.

Sounds like an excuse not to end Chet properly. Just away he goes.

I’m beginning to wonder if we aren’t in the middle of a 100 month story arc.

Morning, Anniephans!
Asp and Punjab were supposedly killed, but Chet was captured.
