P1 – Annie, by Jay Maeder and Alan Kupperberg / P2 – (No dialog)P3 – Dear Amelia, Hi. I can’t tell you where I am. I’m okay. Wanted you to know that.P4 – Sorry to run out on you. I miss you lots. Thanks always for everything.P5 – I don’t know when I’ll ever see you again.P6 – I do know that we’re all at war now, and I’m part of it somewhere, and it will last forever, for as long as every one of us lives.P7 – And I know the world we were born into is the only world we’ve got. Maybe there’s some better world to come someday, but it’s not this one that we live in.P8 – So we just do whatever it is that we just do. I love you, Amelia. Annie.P9 – What is that, Captain Santiago? Another memo from Defense? May I see that? / Just a card from an old friend. Everything’s fine. Everything will be very fine, always. / Jay Maeder and Alan Kupperberg 2-24-02
davidf42; Thanks for your ‘un-blurring translations’ all these Sundays for the ‘AnniePhans’ out here on the Information Highway.. I read an article in this AM’s paper about kids today can’t read or write cursive/longhand/script ,as it’s “not relative” anymore and goes unlearned. Can you imagine a kid trying to read the writing in todays strip? Must look like Greek to them.. Sad, just sad..

Funny and ironic that I find it much easier to read the script in this strip than I do the print in most of the Sunday strips.

I didn’t know Santiago was a captain – of what? She isn’t in uniform.
