Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for April 01, 1998
March 31, 1998
April 02, 1998
Transcript:
Panel is blank. Panel is still empty. Janis whines, "I've never been so embarrassed in my life!" Janis yells at Arlo, "I told you they're not doing the comics switcheroo this April!" Arlo replies, "I think Dagwood misunderstood entirely!"
This is a one-year-later reference to the Great Comics Switcheroonie. On April first of 1997, a whole of comic strip creators traded places with each other for one day, just to mess with the minds of that day’s newspaper readers. Oddly, Jimmy Johnson didn’t participate in that day’s shenanigans, but he got the last word in with this strip.
