Janis: I'm sorry your sciatica is acting up -- listen, Mom, I'm on the house phone, I'd better hang up!
BOOOOM.
Arlo: You're going to get struck by lightning!
I keep an old non-wireless phone for when the power goes out. I can plug into the outside box and if the problem is on the phone company’s side, I call them and say " Fix it !"
Oh, just as a point of fact, I did get struck by lightening when as a kid I was talking to my mother on the phone (only land lines were available in those ancient days) in Florida during summer vacation and lightening struck somewhere in the neighbor hood. I remember screaming and throwing the receiver as far as the cord would go. Needless to say my mother at work (25 miles away) was screaming back on the phone to find out what had happened. So, yes, you can get a very painful shock on a land line during a thunderstorm. But not on a wireless. Naughty Janis.

How about singing a chorus of “It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie”?

It would be an electrifying experience.

It looks like she’s using a wireless handset so there’s no danger at all.

Does anyone not have a non-wireless phone, even for their house phone? That was a problem the last time there was a power outtage around here.
