Arlo, you are the father of the groom. The groom’s job is to smile, look handsome, and do as he’s told. The job of the father of the groom is to achieve complete and total invisibility and inaudibility.

A tactical retreat is in order…and quickly.

It’s amazing that he thinks Janis doesn’t already have a grandiose plan in mind. When there is a wedding within a family, it’s time for the mothers to go into full speed ahead. Warp 9, Mr Scotty!

Nice bit of synchronicity for me. The Stained Glass Theatre of Joplin (MO) is about ready to open with the first play of the new season, in rented temporary quarters (the previous theater building was destroyed on May 22): Father of the Bride.

Stop trying to spoil her fun, Arlo……..

That’s like us preparing for our daughter’s wedding.

The thing is, Janis is the mother of the groom. Her “job” isn’t that much more involved than Arlo’s, beyond planning the rehearsal dinner. She shouldn’t be pushing for anything more grandiose than what the bride’s family (not to mention the bride and groom) want.
