You can always sit on the taffrail while you read the newspaper.

I love boats – it’s been ages since I went out in one! Sigh…!

Anytime there’s a “learning curve” involved, that usually spells trouble. Poor Janis!

I love boats, boated for decades, but I’m not a blo-boater. If it doesn’t make smoke, I ain’t going! Sailing is tantamount to watching grass grow beside a wall with drying paint.

Maybe it’s just me and the way my mind works, but the look on Mary Lou’s face made me think she wasn’t talking about using the head. Rather, perhaps, “other activities” she and Gene had to learn how to do in the cramped and unstable environment of the boat.

Why do people refer to “doing IT” as doing the nasty? That’s not been my experience! Anyway, I think Mary Lou was refering to using the head.

I think she means there is a learning curve to using the head on the boat so she’s leaving the key to the restaurant so Janis can get inside to do . . . whatever.

@toppop52: From what I’ve seen, sailing is more like mowing the lawn and painting the wall at the same time. There’s a lot more to do than just steer.

Think about this….. what if Arlo and Janis stay on the boat overnight….. and Janice is fine with everything and had pleasant sleep… and what if Arlo is green-to-the-gills with motion sickness and cannot sleep a wink? It would be a very ironic twist.

Janis is going to love it, Arlo will be the one to get boat sickness!

“Learning curve” as in operating the dumper on the space station! Lots of ‘dos’ and ’don’ts’ before, during and after.

Nope – worked in the Customs for a couple of years. We had a couple of boats that we used to take out on ‘patrols’, deep out, farther than the harbour roads…

If “doing IT” isn’t the nasty, then you’re doing it wrong! lol

If you can’t figure out the head on a boat, there’s always the option of hanging over the side. Just make sure it’s the lee side.
