Transcript:
Gene: Eric wanted to play He-Man, but I wanted to play G.I. Joe and...
Janis: Gene, honey, I'm very busy. Why don't you watch TV?
Arlo: You should never use television as a babysitter!
Gene: So I said to Mark...
That’s why the baby of the family, (me) gets treated so much better than the poor suckers that came before, when parents didn’t know the easy way to do things….Plop ’em in front of the TV and everything is OK…
Also, I think it’s fascinating that many baby boomers are able to insert “you know” as a greatly shortened one-syllable utterance into just about every pronouncement. They do it unconsciously. I’ve heard Hillary Clinton do it. This is not to say that Gene talks like a valley girl or a baby boomer.
Yep, that’s a lesson I learned the hard way. If you open your big mouth to suggest how a situation might be improved, you will be appointed to head the committee (of one) to implement said improvements.
