Yup. I remember the seventies…..Jobs came and went…And man, you really had to work to hard to get arrested for anything….

Actually, this is a much deeper cartoon, than I thought at first…..Think about it a little bit….What’s changed in our life….? Most people I know are the same, something else happened…..

I hear what Arlo is saying… I am thankful for my job, but I don’t like other people telling me I should be.

I had a boss who parroted that WSJ talking point and then wondered why people just went through the motions after that. Loyalty and appreciation go both ways.

The more jobs get sent to India, the more the survivors appreciate their pittance. You’re being manipulated, people. (and don’t forget to bash the unions on your way down.)

Here is a list of “jobs” that “sadly, nobody is trained to fill”, according to ITT Tech:

Forensic AccountantPlayability TesterMedical InformatisistEnergy Systems TechnicianApplication ArchitectSecurity ArchitectSimulation ProgrammerInterface ProgrammerSustainability ManagerBiomedical Equipment Technician

Back in MY day (just 10 years ago) these job skills would be part of being a “Computer Programmer”, “Civil Engineer”, “Medical Technician”, and “C.P.A.” … the specialization thing is just smoke & mirrors !

The bosses now say you are lucky to have a job. It is their way of saying we can cut your pay. abuse you and there is nothing you can do about it.corporate America sucks big time now.

@david_42 Same here. I always wanted to kill whoever chose the first week in January for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Ruined 4 Christmases for me. One year, I went to a Christmas party with my notebook and worked on collision detection while everyone else drank. — At least I was there.

And you may not even realize the extent of that. Consider all of the supporting industry. The suppliers of food, clothing (jumpsuits), and other supplies, right down to toilet paper. And I’m only considering the jails, not the prisons, probation, or courts. It all actually makes up a rather large percentage of our state’s (GA) economy.
