Red rain???

Red Rain?!? Does he mean the rain looks red in the setting sunlight? Maybe that blood rain will have shreds of flesh in it…wouldn’t that be exciting?

More likely the “red” area on the phone’s radar graphic. They get wet with the “green” rain, hoping to avoid the really heavy “red” rain at the center of the disturbance…

I was thinking Peter Gabriel, but bob_shaffer’s observation makes a lot more sense in this context.

The song is a combination of several inspirations. The lyrics directly reference a recurring dream Gabriel was having where he swam in his backyard pool drinking cold red wine. Another version of the dream had bottles in the shape of people falling from a cliff. Once they smashed with impact onto the ground, the people-shaped bottles had red liquid coming out, and then it began to rain the same red liquid.

It would be a rather sad world with no chance of being caught in the rain.

Red in the evening, morning gray sends the traveler on his way. Evening gray and morning red, time for the traveler to stay in bed.

When you are on top of a 14,000 ft mountain, don’t go near humming rocks in a thunder storm….Trust me on this one…..
