Cool ringtone Arlo.

Why did she throw away their silverware?

This comic never makes any sense.

This made no sense at all…

Sometimes a ringing phone can sound like a cacophony.

Pavlov’s dog has nothing on us.

Maybe she was just dumping it into the silverware drawer.

I would say the silverware basket opened or broke, dumping her just washed silverware on the floor. And the sound from that was similar to Arlo’s ringtone. A little dig at the variety of ringtones available.

My ring tone is a howling wolf that gets more forlorn with each cycle through the howl.

maybe the people that “don’t get it” wash dishes by hand.

Note the bulging basket side with little motion lines in panel 2, then J’s eyes in 3 & 4; the basket fell open.

I’m afraid this one is not one of Jimmy’s best (he was just talking about that over on his webpage). But at least he didn’t resort to the stupid cat.

Yes—-the flatware basket popped open, and the jingle of falling flatware sounded like Arlo’s cell phone ring tone.

I’ve followed A&J since 1986, and quite a few of Jimmy’s strips require a close examination and a little thought. His strips do not always evoke instantaneous laughter. (And Luddie’s not stupid.)

My thought is: the side popped open accidentally dumping silverware everywhere. (thats one crazy ringtone!)

A couple of weeks ago, Jimmy had a strip about Peter the Pumpkin eater, and I supplied a link that claimed the old nursery rhyme was actually about murder. The joke was more discernable online than in print. I couldn’t tell from the print version what happened to the silverware.
