For me, the difficulty is remembering where the damned thing is. Usually I am upstairs, and hear the thing ring downstairs. By the time I get to it, it stops ringing. Then the person trying to get me calls the home phone. Which is upstairs. And stops ringing just as I get back up to it.

My wife’s fitness band can make her phone ring, even if it is on Silent. This assumes she can find the band, if she isn’t wearing it.

Just keep your landline and you will always know where it is.

If you ever see me jogging you’ll know the house in on fire.

If it’s important, they’ll call back or leave a message. Don’t let the phone own you.

I keep audiobooks on my smart phone. My walks are much shorter if I don’t have a good book to entertain me on the march!

As I get older, 70 in 2 months, and no landline (no, they don’t work during an earthquake, as we have experienced!) I feel safer having my cell within arms reach at all times! Parents are under care, and frail. I tend to fall. There are many reasons to keep a cell handy.
