Unlike most people during the pandemic, I have not gained weight. I’ve kept up with my exercise program and am on a semi-serious diet and have actually lost a couple of pounds.
However there are two things that have happened to my body. I noticed the first one on Christmas Eve when my wife and I went to help out with the services. We had two of them and they were outdoors and we were essentially “roadies,” moving the portable altar out and in of the building and re-arranging the seating between services to keep family groups socially distanced according to the seating plan.
I decided to wear a jacket and tie. It was the first time in many months since I had worn a stiff collared shirt. I wound up with a sore neck from the chaffing. My skin has gotten too sensitive.
The other thing is that some of my shoes have gotten smaller. I only wear shoes when I go out so that’s at most about an hour a week. So my feet have expanded.
Given all the things that could happen to me during the pandemic, I’ll figure out a way to live with these.
I’m a leading edge Baby Boomer (i.e. I’m old – in my early 70s just don’t assume anything else about me – you’ll almost certainly be wrong). Jeans are everywherewear. And quite comfortable for almost everything.
Except for the fact that you don’t have to worry about getting anything on them, I have never found jeans all that comfortable. Prefer cotton/linen during the summer and nice warm knit pants during the cold months.
Jeans are for leaving the house. Shorts are for staying in. Why wear long pants inside when there’s no one who’s going to care about my pasty white legs?
I’m in Florida, but it still gets a little cold – that’s what the central heat & air is for.

I second that thought.

My newer jeans are formal. I have several that are faded and ripped in several places. Those are for around the house.

Jeans are for chores. Cleaning house, gardening, maybe walking the dog.

Aunty, where are the tattered holes in the knees? Also, they make your butt look really big.

Only if they have no holes and no stains.

If you have to queeze that enormous backside into a pair, there’d better be a good reason for it, eh, old girl?

Agreed! Jeans for when I leave the house, sweatpants or loose shorts inside.

My jeans become formal when I change from every day athletic shoes to boots.

Just avoid the skinny jeans, we don’t want to see the veins in you legs.

Jeans (regardless of the stage of wear) are for away from home activities. I agree with aunty.
