I remember seeing Phil Silvers interviewed on THE TOMORROW SHOW (Tom Snyder) late in his life. At one point he learned forward and asked “Does it bother you when I do this?” and waggled his fingers through the empty frames of his glasses. He explained that with contacts now he didn’t NEED glasses, but they were such a part of his image, he didn’t look like himself without them.
