My sister lives in the Ozarks on an isolated highway. She sent me a picture of a turkey buzzard looking in her kitchen window. She says that they have started to do that when they have no roadkill to find.
When I was in the USAF in Korea one Thanksgiving season, we asked everyone at the AFKN radio station to record a turkey-gobble for a few seconds, then we inserted them randomly throughout the day. Most of us did the usual imitation, but one guy (named Don Johnson, really!) just said “Gobble, gobble, gobble!” in the same intonation one might say “Blah , blah, blah.” I hope Don went on to have a great civilian radio career.

The Tyrannosaurus sized turkeys that breathe fire mean to gobble-gobble you.
