Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for December 08, 2008
Transcript:
Baldo: Mr. Rod, it makes no sense. Baldo: Joey is nice and all, but there's no way he should be assistant manager! Baldo: I mean, I'm the one who does all the work around here! Mr. Rod: That's why this is a no-brainer, Baldo. Mr. Rod: Joey will do the managing... Mr. Rod: and you'll do the working.
Except for one thing: that isn’t the Peter Principle. It doesn’t say that the least competent person is promoted or that businesses try to find the job at which a person is least competent. It says they promote the MOST competent person UNTIL they become incompetent. The Peter Principle assured you that even though your boss was an idiot, (s)he used to be able to do something.
I agree this is much more a case of never being irreplaceable.
