wheat, maize/corn, barley, rye, oat, spelt, and sorghum… that’s going to be plenty of fiber in one’s diet

A log that burns is better than a log that doesn’t burn.

    “I won’t say she’s a terrible cook…”

    1) But you should.

    2) Why state the obvious?

Wife and I tried baking pumpernickel once. Let’s just say it was dense.

When I bake bread, everything looks and smells great. Until we actually cut a slice and taste it. Never mind, I’ll keep trying.

One of my great-aunts’ biscuits could have been used as cannonballs.

When I lived in a housing co-op in college. One duty people could sign up for was bread baking. Each month several people would be assigned the task. People loved my baking. The twenty loaves I baked would barely last a day—40 person household. The bricks some of my fellow house mates would bake lasted many days. Perverse incentive.
