Privilege-“Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.” Voltaire
Power-“Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.” Mahatma Gandhi

Oh, I don’t know about school, but there are so many books that are so wonderful to read. I enjoyed a lot of fantasy, mythology, and sci-fi, but I wish I’d read more nonfiction now, or read things like “Flatland” sooner, and Sir Francis Bacon’s works on the scientific method…
My husband, also a book lover, though a much slower reader than I am, has trouble seeing things since his cataract surgeries. For the first time in his life he needs eyeglasses -the problem in particular – reading glasses.
So since he has trouble dealing with seeing to read – he has fallen in love with books to read on his computer and during the very early part of Covid (March 2020, to be more exact) he found out that he could borrow books to read on his computer from the library – which includes any library in the same county as us (even though each community’s library is a separate library) and also from the Brooklyn (NYC) library. He can make the text as large as needs to do to be comfortable. He leans toward fiction
I am mostly reading non-fiction these decades – and on paper. History, needlework (histories of same, as well as techniques), and other subjects. All of the magazines I get are also either – history, current events, or needlework.

There is value in reading, and there is value in playing. It doesn’t always have to be one versus the other.
