Hello all you happy people! We did get to play ball yesterday, but now I have a big bruise on my chin. A grounder took a funny hop, and caught me. Still fun though.
Hello, I have been cleaning out the middle room of our garage. Took a bike ride and got poured on for the entire ride. Now that we are home, of course it begins to clear up. Oh well! LOL I am reading a book called “Border Songs”, which takes place just a few miles from in an area I am really familiar with, so that’s kind of interesting, knowing and not having to imagine what the countryside looks like.
Howdy Carmy. Dinner prep is in full swing so I am not sure if I can hang or need to help with something. We just spilled a sauce of sugar, various seeds, rhubarb and cabbage on the kitchen floor, right in front of the cooktop. It was a mess, but between the two of us we cleaned up. Now to discover if it still is going to be sticky when it dries.
Well at least it wasn’t esxploding glass! My one kid was cooking on the stove with a Pyrex casserole dish. It exploded and glass went everywhere! At least he wasn’t hurt, thank God! Rice and veggies everywhere too!
I will let you know how the dish turned out. It is to be served with salmon or chicken. We are using chicken. The sauce also has orange juice and zest, coriander seeds and ginger.
Hola Dry! I’m so glad that your kid didn’t get hurt with the Pyrex either. My SIL got hit with scalding water when a Pyrex cup exploded when she removed it from the microwave. Luckily, she didn’t get cut with the glass either.
Carmy thanks. Pyrex was sold a number of years ago and I am not sure if it was to a Chinese company, but whoever bought it has apparently diminished the quality of the product and it is much more apt to do just what you described. I read where they recommended not buying any Pyrex made after the sale.
Cleo unfortunately the Pyrex casserole dish that broke was one of my mom’s and was several years old. It was the amber color. He felt bad about it because I had just got done telling him to be careful with it because it was one of mom’s.
Wow, I beat cleo in the weather department! Mark it on the calendar! I spent all day scraping up sod with a hand tool. Good buildup for the kayaking season. Need Bookers!
Hello JFri. Dry have you seen “the Blind Side”. Sandra Bullock is good in it, but I don’t think it was academy award worthy. Pyrex exploding on a burner is something the old Pyrex wasn’t meant to handle either. Pyrex is not meant to be on a burner, but in the oven.
Cleo, Yes I know but he was almost done before I saw what he was doing. Oh well, it was just a dish and he wasn’t hurt nor were the cats that were laying on the floor!
Well JFri, I did my outdoor bit today too. Dug up raspberry canes and moved them and then mulched. Once the morning rain disappeared the day turned nice. That is the thing about this Spring. There have been very few days without any sunshine at all. How is your Spring Dry?

Hola Cleo, the things you all cook up always sound so interesting. You all should publish your own cook book.

I just googled Pyrex and one site says originally it was made from borrosilicate, but now is made with soda lime. Anyways, I am off to dinner.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, thanks for the info about Pyrex, I didn’t know that.

The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
