Wow, those 2009 posters were really fed up with people in public talking on cell phones. I don’t think this comic would get such a strong reaction today, as we have come to endure these things without violence.

Cleo is gorgeous, of course. What with the steely eyes, the royal garb, and the eye shadow and nails in that color that shall not be mentioned.

Cleo as Cleopatra. Literally the role she was born to play.

    Hi, people of Cleoland…..

Wow… “Cleoland” looks so similar to Cleveland"!

    Coincidence?

Or did a certain ancient Egyptian Basset Empress visit the middle of this continent, a couple thousand years ago, and lay the foundation for a civilization….

    known, perhaps, as Cleo-Ve-Land….

    Future birthplace of her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-…(whew…) … (great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-) (x11072)-granddaughter….

Cleopatra Clifford…. who was destined to portray the lovely Theda Basset who, 100 years earlier, had portrayed the Empress on the silver screen?

    Nah…. coincidence.

Anyway…. we have a beautiful poster today, by StelBel…

    possibly representing that legend….

as the May 14th  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

Which you can see on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

    And discuss right here!

I don’t know about this adaptation, but there was a human copy of the original Theda Basset version…..

      https://cdn.pastemagazine.com/www/blogs/lists/1917.jpg

The human female is so pasty and white and hairless…

and she completely lacks the proper ears for the role!

Let’s go see Cleo in this while we can.

    Maybe Thursday?

I’ll see what I can do about tickets.

I’d call the theater right now, and see if the manager is still there …. but odd things are happening around here.

I’m a little leery of using my cell phone on the street.

I have to go to my salon and do a couple of haircuts….

I’ll make the call from my landline….

and how about you guys meeting me at my pie shop at three?

We can talk about this poster and make plans… and eat blueberry pie!

Unless you want apple, or cherry, or banana cream, or key lime, or….

Stuff I Forgot to Say plus some Stuff I Didn’t Know I’d Want to Say Later….

Mostly, to Nighthawks…. and anybody else wondering about the “Comics I Don’t Understand” site I linked to yesterday….

(and if you missed that, it’s worth taking a look)

AFAIK, Bill Bickel, who runs it, doesn’t “monitor” Sherpa, or anything else…

he posts some comics that he finds, but most of it is submissions from other users.

And in spite of the title, it’s not all strips they claim not to to understand..

Each post is titled … could be “Puzzled” or “Ewww” or Mother’s Day, or anything else he thinks puts those several strips in a category

…. and sometimes they don’t fit it anyway.

There used to be a list of categories and a list of all the comics mentioned…. but he seems to be having site problems.

He’s kinda well known for having a category called “Arlos” …

named after “Arlo and Janis,” they’re strips with blatant sexual innuendo.

Anyway, I hadn’t had time… but today I figured out that page was all the posts tagged “Cleo and Company” or"Nighthawks cartoonist"(!)

there were actually 5 or 6, from a period of several months….

but on a couple, nobody discussed the Cleo strips.

And yeah, some of the people are half a bubble off.

But I think even being mentioned on that site is great publicity.

I wish I’d seen it in time to answer the questions about Sherpa, and post a link to Cleo.

    And the rest….

JP Steve… um… “Sunny Susan” is fine, especially in a cartoon from a friend…. it’s stuff like “Hey Sunny, that’s not how it works” I object to.

    Bri-No-Mite…. Trains?

And Rotifer, old pal…. I was gonna help you out…

I mean, I’m not afraid of a few squeals…. but did you just find a sneaky way to call me something I hope you didn’t?

Wow! This film just came from a 6 day run at the Kibble theatre! How exciting is that! I know I can’t wait to see our own Cleo star in this.

Beautiful poster, Stel. Even it we can’t mention the “P” word from the make up department.
