The part Claude is holding has writing on it that says “This part goes in first or the whole assembly will be upside down and will go to pieces and fall to the floor”.

Time to start over and maybe, just maybe. do it right this time. My husband finally gave up trying to do things without reading the instructions. Life is better now.

There was a drive-in I used to go to in high school (lord, has it really been 45 years?) that showed that same intermission/snack bar plug between pics.

Yes dear, it has been 45 years! SIGH! But we are here and young as ever, right? Well close to it anyway. RIGHT again? ;-)
