Here’s a movie for you to enjoy: 2 bassets playing with a ball again. Before long, that ball will be wet, slimy, and chewed up.

Snyder’s paw-writing is better than Arthur’s and his math is much better. Arthur can relax, knowing Snyder will work for bones.

Stel’s poster will revive the debate about what is the best baseball movie of all time.

Of course there are Bad News Bassetts. Bassets in the Outfield. And The Battered Bassets of Baseball.

But I think the best is Damn Kitties.

Somebody has to look after the finances.

There won’t even be Angels in the outfield this spring.

I guess (sigh)… in 2020, the title is wrong….

unless I don’t know about some wartime stoppages, this is the first time it’s not happening this Spring….

But for those who miss it… at least there’s a bassetball movie, to help fill the gap.

 

Make yourself a hot dog, pop some popcorn… pop a brewski, too, if you do that… maybe a Coke if you don’t…

and settle in as though you were at the stadium….

minus yelling fans, crying kids, and speeding stray balls.

 

I haven’t seen this one in a long time…. but I remember it being pretty funny

A chemical reaction creates a kind of rubber that’s repelled by wood….

perfect for “hitting” bassetballs amazing distances, of course…

which turns a nerdy professor into a bassetball star.

 

(Gee…that seems like an obvious precursor to the “Flubber” created in a much later Dogsney comedy….

which just may have kinda sorta “borrowed” the idea.)

 

Jeanie Pawters is so adorable in her little blue skirt, and well… no getting around it… obviously purplie eye shadow….

The female on the human poster is no match!

Don’t know why humans even tried copying a movie where basset hounds are gleefully whacking and chasing balls in every direction!

Humans just just swing a stick at the ball, one after another until they hit one… and then wait around for other humans to throw it back… and they politely take turns running.

 

Not half the funny bedlam of a bassetball game.

Coincidentally, we watched a great Robert Redhound movie last night. Yep, The Natural Basset. All the excitement of being in a real stadium.

Thanks to Stel, we have a chance to watch another great basset ball movie. Because I saw it so long ago, it’ll be like watching a whole new movie.

I never realized I had so many baseball movies in my collection. I have Angels In the Outfield, The Babe Ruth Story, Death On the Diamond, Field Of Dreams, Pride Of the Yankees, Rhubarb and The Winning Team. I think I’ll start cueing them up for viewing soon, although I wish I also had Major League.

They are removing two comics from the front page. I have hopes that they will now fix Sherpa after a long time, but I wouldn’t count on it. Maybe in 2050.
