Look! Up in the sky! It’s Ernie, the invisible giant who lives in your ceiling! To get Ernie the invisible giant to like you, run and get a dozen eggs from the fridge and toss them up to the ceiling as hard as you can and yell “Catch, Ernia, catch!!”
This is the poster for a movie that just screams for the Cleo and Co. production values. Handsome, good-looking leads, superb location, compelling and dramatic storyline. All the elements for a cinematic spectacle. Yet somehow, it never caught fire with the audience. You never know.
Never heard of it. But then that’s no surprise. The newest movie I’ve seen is The Hunt For Red October. But I’ll take the the golden age of Hollywood every time.
Good morning, Ballardeers! Q Date: 291.98593.97 National Tick Tock Day…no not that one. The clock is ticking. The count down has begun. Check your list. Get that unfinished business completed.

Did you miss your last wedding anniversary? (how are you still standing?)

It appears that it’s Rodent Revolutions every 10 years on Ballard Street.
Another Stel-lar movie poster from our resident cinematic booster. I almost misread the title as Nappa Nui, although with a basset movie, it might apply.

Don’t know about you, but I couldn’t understand most of the 2010 comments. Anyone know what might be going on there?
I was interested by the similarity of themes 10 years apart. Dogs, squirrels, and useless owners.

Liverlips posted tonight’s Cleo and Company, a poster by Stel Bel. I don’t know much about this movie.

Hola, mi Cleo Compadres….
Come to far-off Yappa Nui….
in StelBel’s poster for the the Dec 29th 2020 “CLEO and COMPANY” on Sherpa….
the antepenultimate Cleo for the dread year, 2020.
I’ve been drifting off… and to my surprise, woke up gazing upon beautiful Basset Island….
or as it was known then… the enchanting Yappa Nui of the title…
with its dreamy basset monoliths under the arching Milkbony Way.
Stel has created a lovely picture …
with the stars above…. and the stars within …. including the lovely Eurasian-Canadian Sandy Howls.
Jason Scott Leash and the aptly named Esai Ma-rooo-les lend their own appeal…. a -rooo…
The dogs are so much more creative… to say nothing of more attractive, and better actors.
Apparently stronger, too… just compare the posters…
it seems to be taking a crowd of humans to accomplish what two bassets are doing in the canine version.
See the wrappings about the “pillar” supporting the giant stone basset head?
they conceal its giant, formerly buried, basset torso.
The torsos were just being discovered, and excavated, around the time of the making of this film… and were incorporated into the plot.
The island is… so… dreamy… and idyllic… if I don’t watch out, I’ll drift away againzzzz….
Stel tells me Cleo readers can pick up comp tickets in advance for the Sunday matinee… at the will-call window at the Ballard BASSET Cinerama…
or let me know, and I’ll pick up a batch.
I researched Yappa Nui food, thinking to bring some authentic island snacks, to accompany the theme…but … aaaaghh… it seems that the early dogs subsisted mainly on yams and a particular native species of RATS.
Nope nope nope.
Kibblecorn all around, I’m buying.

This is a well done, beautiful poster, Stel. Never heard of the movie, though.
The last movie we went to in a theater was the first digital Star Wars movie. Had to be in the late 90’s. Don’t even remember which one it was.
Give me my DVD/DVR and old movies……………..

Yes, even though I never saw it or heard of it, the poster is beautiful. That alone could entice me to see it.
